| Anna Bokarius joined the Cognitive Neurophysiology Research Group in 2008. Her primary research is concerned with multisensory processing, specifically audio-visual integration, focusing on the intricacies of face-name recognition.
Anna graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California where she received her B.A. degrees in both linguistics and neuroscience while minoring in Spanish. She has worked with the USC Department of Linguistics and Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Her investigation of second language acquisition has gained recognition at her university symposia, while her research on humor and depression has received attention from both American and World Psychiatric Associations. She has presented her work at conferences in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Currently, Anna is pursuing pre-medical studies at Columbia University and looks forward to a career in psychiatry. Aside from mental health issues Anna is also interested in sexual health education. As a trained peer health educator she volunteers as an HIV counselor. Her volunteer efforts also include medical interpreting at free clinics and emergency departments.
Born and raised in Russia, Anna has lived and studied abroad in Russia, Germany, Spain, and Israel and is a certified ESL instructor. She loves learning languages, traveling, and learning about other cultures.
